Scholarship Winner

Charlotte Embelton

Charlotte's entry features multiple components that have both creative and factual links. The presentation allows readers become fully engaged in a narrative backed by research. Incorporating both letters and a diary, that both follow a chronological order, different perspectives are able to be explored. Congratulations, Charlotte, on being selected as this year's R.S.L scholarship winner!

Lachie Noble

Lachie used a real soldier's expirience along with modern interpretations when writing his R.S.L piece. Drawing from games he had played, Lachie was able to create a vivid  story that featured strong imagery.

Charlotte Donaldson

Conversations with her parents led Charlotte down the path of creating this diary. Using symbolism, such as the red representing the bloodshed and the tattered and rugged nature of the diary, Charlotte wanted to preserve the serious nature of war. It is this preservation that Charlotte hopes can prevent future wars.

Cate McClusky

Cate strived to make emotional connections with her readers by using real-life scenarios without shying away from diving into the reality of wartime situations. Through this, Cate explored deep emotions and perspectives that would of been common during times of conflict.

Niamh McGuire

By choosing a unique perspective to explore, Niamh used both fictional and non-fictional references to create her submission. Niamh explored the complexities regarding the racial politics evident during the way by using deep personal emotions that examined the impact of physical and emotion trauma caused by this world event.
